"Biggers & Callaham LLC., D/B/A Mice Direct of Cleveland Georgia is recalling frozen reptile feed (mice, rats, chicks), because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. As one who has been working on a bio-pic screenplay about Laika the cosmonaut for going on half a decade now, I'm a sucker for any flick featuring the four-legged in prominent roles. This week "Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore" is coming out and Warner Brothers has a pretty cool sweepstakes to promote it: Enter Warner Brothers’ Cats and Dogs the Revenge of Kitty Galore Sweepstakes, and you could take home an authentic prop from the movie. Plus the grand-prize winner will also win some great home entertainment prizes including a HDTV, a Sony Playstation 3, and the Cats and Dogs movie on Blu-ray.I have it on good authority that one of the prizes is a collar worn by Catherine the cat. You can go here to enter. Good luck! Be my friend on Facebook or follow me on Twitter!
Question: I know its only Tuesday, but is it too early to start looking forward to the beach this weekend? Responses: Yes, Too Early - 2% No, Never Too Early to Think about Beach - 98% Great, thanks for your feedback. But your responses prompt a pretty obvious follow-up question. Question: Should I really sit here torturing myself with thoughts of sun and sand, or should I just head down there, like, right now and start enjoying the beach while it's still warm, the water is still clean, and I'm still young and healthy and carefree? Responses: Wait for Weekend - 1% Go now - 99% Awesome, thanks! These polls are great tools. And I'm so glad I decided in this instance to count only those responses I came up with myself. See you tomorrow! Be my friend on Facebook or follow me on Twitter!
With a heat wave gripping much of the country, I thought it a good time for this friendly safety reminder: NEVER, EVER, LEAVE YOUR DOG IN A HOT CAR. Even if its just a few minutes. Even if you have the window cracked. As this video from ABC-TV news in San Diego and the Helen Woodward Animal Center demonstrates, if its 88 degrees outside, the temperature inside a car can rise to 120 degrees in a mere 7 minutes. Ten minutes later, the temperature can reach a lethal 140 degrees. Cracking a window? In some cases it might only lower the inside temp as little a single degree. I hear humans complaining about the airlines all the time, but I gotta say -- traveling just keeps getting easier for my ilk. Partly that's because there are more of us traveling than ever before. According to the Transportation Department, about 2 million animals a year fly in the United States. Hotels are more pet-friendly (and there are even pet hotels) and airline policies more understanding. There's now even an airline devoted exclusively to meeting the needs of the four-legged set - Pet Airways, which seats pets not in with the cargo but in the cabin. With all these pets jet-setting about, perhaps its no surprise to learn that more airports are now adding pet restrooms -- including Atlanta, Chicago O'Hare, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, Washington Dulles and Washington National. This is partly to come into compliance with a federal law aimed make airports to install facilities for travelers with service dogs, but its good news for all of us. Now if only my collar wouldn't beep every time I go through security. (image via bgottsab/flickr creative commons) Be my friend on Facebook or follow me on Twitter!
