Security Tips

Thank you for visiting the online pets marketplace. We believe you will have a positive experience with the buyers and sellers alike through the site, however, we must remind you to use caution at all times. Though most people you will encounter are genuinely interested in a rewarding exchange for both parties, there is always the possibility that unscrupulous individuals could misrepresent themselves in an attempt to take advantage of your good will and potentially, your wallet.

We would like to provide some advice to help you maintain your personal security:

General tips to all users:
  • Above all, use your common sense and trust your gut. If something about a deal or the other party involved seems suspicious or unbelievable, don't continue the transaction unless you can address your concern to your satisfaction.
  • To prevent identity theft, never share valuable personal financial information (such as social security or bank account numbers) with parties online.
  • Only use secure payment methods that provide some protection in the event you are defrauded. Never send or accept money by wire services as most offer no payment protection (you should be suspicious of those who suggest that method of payment). Escrow or online payment services can be a good alternative if needed, however, beware fake sites that might pose as legitimate. Check out any site you might use thoroughly and if you're unable to identify its security features, use another payment method. Email messages are not a secure method to provide payment information.
  • It is rarely necessary to purchase a pet outside of your region and it should never be necessary to find a pet overseas. Non-local buyers and sellers are frequently scam artists, so beware foreign parties and anyone who claims to be overseas on missionary work or military service. They may very well be phony.
  • Gadzoo or your local newspaper will never ask you for personal or credit card information over the phone

Tips for sellers
  • Never accept overpayment for a pet. If buyer attempts to overpay, end the transaction immediately.
  • If a buyer pays by check, do not provide the item until their check has cleared at the bank.
