| Tails of Joy, an Animal Assisted Therapy Group, will be hosting a 10th Birthday Party for Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) at the Jonathan Trumbull Library on 11/14. R.E.A.D. is a literacy support program in which children read to therapy animals to help them discover the joys of books and reading. There are now 2,300 volunteer teams trained, registered and insured in 49 states, Canada, Europe and Asia. Tails of Joy will have many different breeds of dogs for the children to read to along with coloring pages, stickers, pictures with the dogs and pawtographs - if you bring in your own book to read to a dog -along with light refreshments. Also, local author Lorraine Strenkowski will be there with her "How Tall is a Giant" characters and book. Please call the Lebanon library at 860-642-7763 to sign up so that Tails will be sure to have enough wagging tails there for everyone to read to. |
