Hamster on a piano
A little Friday fun to help you forget about
any
troubles
you may have
this week.
This little ditty comes courtesy of Parry Grip, lead vocalist of
Nerf Herder
, the nerd rock band who gave us the theme to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
The video and song are about a hamster. On a piano. Eating popcorn. On a piano.

Pit bull ban sticks
Sad day for pit bull owners, particularly those who happen to live in Aurora, Colorado. Chief U.S. District Judge Wiley Y. Daniel upheld the ban on pit bulls Wednesday, despite arguments from the American Canine Federation that the law was too vague and that many of pit-bull incident reports were suspect.
With dogfighting still capturing headlines (my Google search shows news stories running in Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Missouri and Texas this week alone) it will probably be awhile until the pit bull can escape its stereotype as a vicious animal -- one largely created a certain segments of the breed's owners who are neglectful at best and sickeningly cruel at worst.
In the meantime, expect more breed-specific legislation.

Champagne superhero
Digger doesn't usually do celebrity news, but since the new Bond movie "Condom of Solace" (or something like that) just opened and this story involves a member of Oasis -- well, it was too juicy to pass up.
Seems Noel Gallagher of Oasis was strolling around outside his multi-million pound manor in London and witnessed a dognapping in progress. According to
The Economist
(er, wait, make that
a movie news site from India
) the musician intervened with his fists, chasing away the bandits.
As for the Bond tie-in (wait for it)...the dog was black labrador belonging to Caroline Munro, who starred in the 007 flick 'The Spy Who Loved Me'.
Good show, Noel. We always knew all those onstage fisticuffs with your brother Liam would pay off somehow.

All puppies all the time
Maybe you're stressed at work today. Maybe you're missing your own dogs at home. Maybe you're thinking of getting a Shiba Inu but want to know what they do all day long. Maybe you just want to see something cute.
You've come to the right place, amigo.
The cam below links to footage of six Shiba Inu puppies who turn six weeks old today. You can tune in daily to see what they're up to. Enjoy...

Homemade cat toy
With our current economic crisis, many pet owners might be skipping getting presents for their furry family members this year. But as this video shows, with a few common household items and little DIY know-how, you can still create some fun for the four-legged set.
Nothing could be simpler, for instance, than this whack-a-mouse toy, but the cat really seems to dig it. Its a reminder that you don't need designer toys to have a fun time with your pets.
But I still want my gold threaded mattress.
