We've had a lot of cat stories this week, and a lot of stories about legislation lately, so if this feels a little deja vu for you, bear with me.
Last month, you might recall we ran a story about San Francisco considering banning the practice of declawing cats. Well, the law not only passed on November 3rd, but now Berkeley has followed suit, despite objections from the California Veterinary Medical Association. According to the
Contra Costa Times:
"The Berkeley City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to ban the veterinary practice of declawing cats within city limits, making it a misdemeanor punishable by a $1,000 fine or six months in jail."
Man, if I was a bird I'd be figuring out how to move to the Bay Area right about now.
